Melbourne early 90's I think

I was fortunate to have a chance to do a quick piece as part of one of the Hidden Beauty projects in Eindhoven NL (top photo).
Naturally my preference is for trying new things, exploring and pushing personal boundaries a little, but had very little time on this one and in the rush kind of settled for what I knew. I like it a lot though, fast-ish and unforced.
The 2 old pieces pictured below it and thoughts on their relationship to it kept cropping up while painting...The permutations on the these 3 letters and approaches to them still manage to interest me...anyway... I'll save the theories/essay for another day....

GRAFIXX - Antwerpen

My wife and co have been busy of late putting another edition of Grafixx together to be held in Antwerp this weekend. If you're into underground zines / illustration, there is a whole bunch of cool stuff from Europe, America and I saw a box come in from far afield as Hong Kong.

I have kind of lost track of what shows my wife has on at the moment but I've been there for a fair bit of the set up of this Dutch/Belgian exhibition of predominantly illustrators. It's pretty much all installations.
I know everyone's work pretty well but it packed some welcome surprises for me. Worth a look if you're in the area, a quality show for lovers of contemporary illustration.

My wife Ephameron has an illustration in this book. It contains work from people as diverse as Keith Haring, Logan Hicks, Shepard Fairey to Risk. I hope we get a copy for our kid to color in!

Join us for the book launch of Outside the Lines Coloring Book, a striking collection of illustrations from more than 100 creative masterminds, including animators, cartoonists, fine artists, graphic artists, illustrators, musicians, outsider artists, photographers, street artists, and video game artists, curated by Souris Hong-Porretta

 Big thanks to Montana Cans for the support, Pascal and Adnate. Heidelberg came out for a good summer nights party. The party was still going strong when I left at 2am. The south american super bartender was making great drinks, too hard to pass up. I was getting a bit all over the place in conversation, glad I left when I did.
It was a very relaxed, well paced set up for the show, great for a change. We met a lot of good people on this visit and got a tour of the paint factory. Thanks everyone!!!

Was feeling pretty burnt out at the time but am pretty happy with this small scale piece. I managed to squeeze in a fair portion of the detail I had in mind.

St. Niklaas Belgium. Free style fun based on the metallic gold paint we buffed the wall with, benching lots of panels and getting sun burn in what felt like tropical Belgium..

Bums, Ren, Dvate and New. We drove to Germany and caught up with friends, painted fast and drove straight back. A long, long day driving in the middle of a week with little sleep...but good fun and worth it..
